How to Attract Coaching ClientsWithout Feeling Salesy
Let's name the thing you don't say out loud.
You hate marketing.
Not because you're lazy, and not because you don't believe in your work. You hate it because it feels awkward. Salesy. A little spammy. It feels like everything you never wanted to become. So you avoid being visible, and you quietly tell yourself you're just being patient.
Meanwhile, someone asks what you do at church, and you fumble it. You ramble, you overexplain, or you give a completely different answer than you gave last month. You walk away a little embarrassed, wondering why this is so hard when you're genuinely good at helping people.
Here is what I want you to hear.
The problem is not that you're bad at marketing. The problem is that you're marketing before you're clear.
You can't attract with a blurry message
When your niche is fuzzy and your message is vague, marketing feels awful, because you're basically standing in a crowded room shouting in the general direction of everyone, hoping the right person turns around.
Of course that feels salesy. You're straining. You're guessing. You're trying to be interesting to everybody, which means you end up magnetic to nobody.
But when you get clear, something shifts. You stop shouting at a crowd and start speaking to one specific woman. You know exactly who she is, what keeps her up at night, and the words she uses to describe it. And when you say those words back to her, she doesn't feel sold to. She feels seen.
That is the whole secret. Attraction is not persuasion. Attraction is clarity plus resonance. When the right woman reads your words and thinks "that's me, how did she know," you didn't sell her anything. You simply became findable.
Narrowing down is not losing. It's relief.
I know your fear. If I niche down, I'll leave people out. I'll cut off income. I'll get bored.
Almost every woman I work with braces for niching to feel like a cage. And almost every one of them is surprised when it feels like freedom instead.
Think about a garden. A garden grows because of what you did not plant. If you throw every seed into one bed and let it all fight for the same light and soil, you get a tangle, not a harvest. Growth comes from choosing.
Jesus talks about this in John 15. The vine that is pruned bears more fruit, not less. Cutting back is not punishment. It is how the fruit gets to be abundant. Your message works the same way. The more you cut, the more it produces.
One of my clients spent 18 months wrestling with her niche and her voice. When it finally locked in, she didn't just get clarity. She told me it exposed her identity as a coach, and that she was finally beginning to write her own framework, one that looked like her. That's what clarity does. It doesn't shrink you. It reveals you.
Marketing that feels like the way you already encourage people
Here's a question worth sitting with. What if inviting a woman into your coaching felt as natural as the way you already encourage people?
Because you do encourage people. You do it at church, in the school pickup line, over coffee with a friend who's struggling. You lean in, you listen, you speak hope over her. Nobody has ever accused you of being salesy in those moments.
That is your marketing voice. You just haven't given yourself permission to use it in your business yet.
Bill Johnson often says that we carry a Kingdom that changes the atmosphere around us. You already do that in conversation. Marketing, done in alignment, is simply carrying that same presence into your content and your invitations. It is not a performance. It is an overflow.
When your marketing comes from overflow instead of panic, it stops feeling like hustle and starts feeling like ministry. And your ideal client can feel the difference immediately.
The clarity has to come first
You cannot think your way to a clear niche at midnight while scrolling other coaches' pages. Comparison has never once produced clarity. It only deepens the fog.
Clarity comes from the right process, with the right questions, ideally with someone who can pull out of you what you can't see yourself. That is exactly what happens inside my free 3-Day Jumpstart.
It's a private, 1:1 intensive where we nail your niche, define your dream client, and craft the message that makes the right woman stop scrolling and feel seen. Not a group. Not a webinar. Just focused, prayerful work on the clarity everything else depends on.
It's application-based, and I read every one personally, because I want to serve the woman who is truly ready to get clear. If that's you, come find me.

You don't need to become someone salesy. You need to become clear. And clear is a version of you that already exists.
